Poster Fold Design

My poster fold displays a turn-of-the-century modernism with a 17th century historical event. I chose bold, black letter style fonts as an accent to sans serif fonts in order to achieve a modern look while establishing a specific time period. By including the performances in a horizontal manner, I was able to include more artists. This allowed me to not only break away from a vertical linear hierarchy, but also utilize space and organization on a grid system. I was able to achieve a spooky Halloween theme for the poster by capitalizing on black and white aspects as a compliment to the darker emotions of the topic. By fully creating a new festival using my imagination, I feel like I have a better sense of what people look for when choosing a music festival to attend. I also feel like my sense of hierarchy has improved as well as my ability to use InDesign.

The Original Project

The Project Revisited

I decided to revisit this project later on in the semester as I knew that better work could be accomplished with more time. I ended up changing the title on the full poster side so that it had a central alignment and better spacing within the grid. I also adjusted the dates for them to read at the same height and not emphasize one day over the other. I feel like the second iteration is stronger regarding spacing and establishing a hierarchy. It feels more organized and each aspect of it reads clearly as its section. Overall, I believe that the second iteration has a better understanding with regards to the topic and what I am trying to advertise and compliments the topic of the poster as well.
