My Statement

Merging the essence of who you are and the essence of those who came before us is no small feat. A symbol that has stood tried and true that beautiful encapsulates this is the celtic knot. What started as a Roman mosaic within the celtic peoples became a symbol of life, death and rebirth. For my family we use the celtic knot to represent my three brothers and how our lives are forever interwoven through our own personal histories. The celtic knot is also represented in many different religions such as in Catholicism when they revitalized the meaning for the father, son and holy ghost, as well as in paganism. This aspect merges not only my interpersonal beliefs but the different beliefs held within my family as we believe different ideals but are still united by the rich history of the symbol. This piece shows even though the history of symbols can change and be interpreted differently, the connections through cultures is forever lasting.
